THE UNIVERSE/THE FOOL

A zine from the week of June 16-June 22, based on drawing the The Universe card (in many decks this is The World) at the top of the week. The images that follow below are alternate designs that didn’t make it in, but were an exploration of the same prompt. There is also a video with a bit of BTS, but no talking or singing because I was on vocal rest on my usual voice over day.

What fun to jump from The Fool to the completion of The Fool’s journey! A card that represents completion, fulfillment, achievement, and, to me, a sense of expansion. I started out sketching things out in a little zine format, then completely pivoted ideas towards the end of the week. I was also on vocal rest on the day I would normally record voice over, so decided to maybe leave most of the text out of the zine (also, the video is silent, for the most part). The video game restart screen on the last page brought me a lot of joy when I thought of the idea.

The date tree was chosen because it just looks so abundant when it’s fruiting… also, because I had a date earlier, and the seed gave me the idea for drawing out the growth cycle.
