TWO OF VESSELS
A zine from the week of July 7 - July 13, based on drawing the Two of Cups card at the top of the week.
A simple one for this week, as it was a busy one. Recovering from being sick, dog sitting (and lots of walking), plus a performance with the Vancouver Chamber Choir and the VSO (a Final Fantasy Concert - lots of fun).
The two of cups brings with it ideas of partnership, balance, connection, and more. Over the past week, while thinking some more about vessels, I came across a post about Ursula K. Leguin’s thoughts on humanity’s first tool. In her essay, "The Carrier Bag Theory of Fiction," she explores the idea that humanity’s first tool was not weapon, but instead a vessel or container - “A leaf a gourd a shell a net a bag a sling a sack a bottle a pot a box a container. A holder. A recipient.” She goes on to propose that stories are vessels as well, and I just love love love that. (She’s one of my all-time favourite writers - sci-fi, fantasy, short stories, essays, and more. Highly recommend her work).
No video this week due to the displaced nature of it, but a couple of photos below, for fun:
